Real Estate Funds

Vinson & Elkins' Real Estate Funds practice advises investment funds, individual fund investors, and institutional investors on fund formation; innovative and traditional fund structuring; and property acquisitions, development, construction, managing, financing, leasing, and sales. We are experienced with all commercial property types, including shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, industrial facilities, multifamily and mixed-use complexes, and raw land.

Our highly integrated team operates nationally, helping clients build, operate, and manage diverse investment portfolios across the United States. Over our decades of experience, we have addressed nearly every aspect of fund investment, management, and finance, from initial property evaluation and capital raising through final dispositions. We assist with direct investments, joint venture formation and investments, and single-property and portfolio investments.

Offering a Competitive Advantage

The magnitude and complexity of work we have handled enables us to streamline due diligence investigations, resolve issues effectively and efficiently, negotiate favorable terms, and rapidly close deals. Our team regularly leverages the skill, experience, and knowledge of our domestic and international network of legal counsel to serve our clients’ market-specific needs, such as land-use permitting, variances, and other entitlements. We also work closely with our Private Equity, Finance, Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions, ERISA, Intellectual Property, Restructuring & Reorganization, and Complex Commercial Litigation lawyers to assure all of our clients’ related concerns are addressed.

Real Estate Finance Experience

We advise on all types of financing and loan-servicing arrangements throughout the investment life cycle — from debt origination and acquisition finance through development funding, distressed property and loan workouts, and permanent finance arrangements. Our lawyers are known as deal makers. We get deals done, enhancing the parties’ relationships, avoiding contention, whenever possible, and working toward a collaborative future for borrowers and lenders.
