Who’s Who Legal Names 4 V&E Lawyers in 2019 Arbitration Guide
Vinson & Elkins partners Amir Ghaffari and Jim Loftis, counsel Joseph Chedrawe and senior associate Alexander Slade have been named in Who’s Who Legal’s 2019 Arbitration guide.
Based on the recommendations of clients and private practitioners, the Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration guide identifies the most highly-regarded arbitration lawyers from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Ghaffari, Chedrawe and Slade are included on the guide’s “Future Leaders” list, cited as “among the best of their generation for their exceptional counsel and arbitration work in complex international proceedings.”
An experienced international arbitrator, Ghaffari has acted as counsel in more than 75 international commercial and construction arbitrations administered under the rules of all the major arbitral institutions, as well as in ad hoc proceedings. He represents clients across a number of sectors, with particular experience in energy and natural resources, as well as construction and engineering. Ghaffari is noted by Who’s Who Legal as someone who stands out for his “great client service and thorough approach.”
Loftis, head of V&E’s International Dispute Resolution practice, focuses on the arbitration and litigation of international commercial and investor-state disputes and counsels in matters involving public international law and treaties. He handles disputes involving all aspects of energy, construction and infrastructure development; disputes under investment laws and treaties; and boundary disputes, cross-border technology disputes and sovereign debt.
Chedrawe is an experienced arbitration practitioner who has acted as counsel in more than 20 international construction and commercial arbitrations under many of the major arbitral institutions and in ad-hoc proceedings, as well as in cross-border litigation. He also has experience in investigations, and has represented multinational corporations, governments and private clients across multiple sectors, with a focus on construction and engineering and commercial disputes.
Slade has broad experience in investment arbitration and international commercial arbitration, under a wide range of arbitral seats and governing laws. He is familiar with all major institutional rules, and has particular experience under the ICSID, ICC, LCIA, SCC and UNCITRAL Rules. He has also been involved in numerous claims in the English High Court, and his practice spans a variety of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, construction and telecommunications.
