Randy Aman and Brian Russell Named to 2020 D Magazine Best Lawyers Under 40 List
D Magazine has named Vinson & Elkins senior associates Randy Aman and Brian Russell to its 2020 “Best Lawyers Under 40” list, honoring up-and-coming
attorneys in Dallas who are considered “among the current best” under the age
To compile the list, D Magazine editors solicited
nominations from lawyers across North Texas. After votes were tallied, a panel
of esteemed lawyers worked with the magazine’s staff to evaluate the nominees.
Aman represents banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers in the negotiation and documentation of secured and unsecured loan transactions including asset based and reserved based lending facilities. His experience includes the representation of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in a $2.5 billion reserve-based credit facility to Rice Energy Inc., JPMorgan Chase Bank in a $100 million asset-based credit facility to Vitamin Shoppe, Inc. and Bank of America, N.A. in a $50 million debtor-in possession credit facility to Parker Drilling Company during its chapter 11 bankruptcy. Aman was also named as a Texas “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2019.
Russell focuses on the federal income tax aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions. He has represented many of the firm’s clients in a variety of tax matters, including partnership transactions, mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, private and public securities offerings, real estate investment trusts, master limited partnerships, joint ventures, spin-offs, financings, restructuring transactions in and out of bankruptcy and foreign investments in the United States, including under the Foreign Investment Real Property Tax Act. Russell’s recent experience includes advising Momentum Midstream on the tax aspects of DTE Midstream’s $2.25 billion acquisition of Haynesville midstream assets from Momentum and Indigo Natural Resources and Devon Energy Corp.’s $770 million sale of Barnett Shale assets to Banpu Kalnin Ventures.
