Carrie Winkler Rejoins V&E as Real Estate Counsel
Carrie M. Winkler, an attorney with a broad-based real estate practice, has rejoined Vinson & Elkins as counsel in the firm’s Dallas office. Winkler previously worked as a real estate associate in V&E’s Dallas office between 1998 and 2004.
Winkler comes to V&E from Hunton Andrews Kurth, where
she represented purchasers and sellers in acquisitions and dispositions of
improved and unimproved real estate (office, retail, industrial and hotel),
developers in the creation of mixed-use condominiums and in the development of
full-service and limited-service hotels, lenders and borrowers in the
negotiation and preparation of loan documentation (including CMBS loans and
mezzanine financing) and landlords and tenants in the leasing and management of
retail, office and industrial properties.
“Our practice touches all areas of the real estate industry,
making Carrie’s range of experience a perfect fit for our team,” said Paul
Martin, head of the firm’s Real Estate practice. “We are excited to welcome her back on board.”
Among her notable representations, Winkler advised a leading
secondary mortgage lender with its contributions to community development
investment funds, which has included transactions involving $550 million in
multifamily assets, as well as an owner/developer in the acquisition, financing
and development of new full and limited service hotels.
Her experience also includes representing a developer of
full service hotels in the Legacy West development in Plano, Texas and in
Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, Texas. Both developments included representing the
developer in connection with the acquisition, architect and construction
contracts, hotel management agreements, mezzanine and senior loan financing,
other development related issues and, in connection with the hotel in Frisco,
creation of a mixed use condominium. One of the hotels is currently open under
the Renaissance brand and the other will be operated under the Hyatt Regency
brand once construction is complete.
“V&E has an outstanding reputation for advising on a
full range of sophisticated real estate legal issues,” Winkler said. “This was
among the many reasons that drew me to rejoin the firm, and I am thrilled to work
with such a talented group of lawyers.”
