Carla Jordan-Detamore Named to DCA Live's 2019 List of Emerging Women Leaders in Law
Vinson & Elkins Senior Associate Carla Jordan-Detamore has been named to DCA Live’s inaugural list of Emerging Women Leaders in Law (Private Practice).
Jordan-Detamore is among 41 attorneys in the Washington, D.C. area recognized by DCA Live as “emerging leaders within their firms and the broader legal community.” She and her fellow honorees will be recognized at an event hosted by DCA Live on March 19, 2019.
As a member of V&E’s complex commercial litigation practice group, Jordan-Detamore’s primary areas of practice include white collar defense, government investigations, antitrust class action defense and civil litigation. Carla’s litigation and client counseling experience includes managing complex electronic discovery, conducting internal investigations, acting as trial counsel before arbitration panels, defending clients in False Claims Act proceedings, defending clients in regulatory investigations and litigation arising out of financial restatements and accounting fraud and malpractice allegations and advising clients on compliance matters related to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other public corruption laws.
Since joining the firm in 2014, Jordan-Detamore has been an active member of the firm’s Diversity Council, acting as Office Co-Lead for Washington, D.C., and V&E’s Washington, D.C. Recruiting Committee and Community Service Committee, where she serves as a leading voice and advocate. Jordan-Detamore is also committed to providing legal service to the underprivileged and disadvantaged. In 2015 and 2017, she won the firm’s annual awards for pro bono service.
Outside of the office, Jordan-Detamore serves as president of the Greater Washington Area Chapter of the Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association (2018-2019 Term) and she is a Legal Advisory Committee Member for the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition. She is also involved at The George Washington University Law School, where she created and runs a mentoring program for first year law students and has assisted in coaching champion moot court and mock trial teams.
Jordan-Detamore was named a 2017 Pathfinder by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and is a member of the American Bar Association as well as the Sedona Conference Working Group 1 - Electronic Document Retention & Production.
