Andrew Stewart and V&E senior associate Jay Rothrock recently authored an article on EPA’s recent National Enforcement Initiatives (NEIs) for 2017-2019, giving an overview of NEIs relevant to the oil and gas industry. In furtherance of these initiatives, EPA will focus
its enforcement resources on several regulatory programs relevant to the oil
and gas industry, including those related to methane emissions reductions, well
activity on public lands, hazardous air pollutant emissions, and measures to
reduce the risk of accidental releases at industrial and chemical facilities.
The Agency’s focus shows that the oil and gas industry—and the upstream
sector in particular—should expect to remain in the federal crosshairs for
years to come. Read the entire article here.
