2019 Kayo Women's Real Estate Summit
Monday, June 24 - Tuesday, June 25, 2019 | Chicago, IL
V&E proudly sponsored the 3rd Annual Kayo Women’s Real Estate Summit on Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25 in Chicago. The conference brought together 250 of the nation’s leading women in real estate, including institutional investors, real estate private equity, REITs, developers, lenders and advisors.
Partner Daniel LeBey moderated a panel of CFOs that included Jessica Thorsheim from Everest Healthcare Properties, Kristin Renaudin from Stockbridge Real Estate, Laura Dietzel from RSM and Lori Wittman from Big Rock Partners. The panel discussed the CFOs’ predictions for 2019, how they have held up so far and how they think the second half of the year will play out. The conversation covered the state of the capital markets, preferred asset classes and the macroeconomic factors driving the current trends.
Senior associate Paige Anderson moderated a panel entitled “What’s All the Buzz About Opportunity Zones?” that included Ada Arevalo of Avanath Capital Management, LLC, Beth Van Duyne of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Deborah Singer of RSM, Elizabeth Burton of the Hawaii Employees’ Retirement System and Jill Homan of Javelin 19 Investments. The panel included discussions about the governments and businesses that have tried to attract investors to the opportunity zones in their cities, the problems they face and possible solutions to encourage investment in these opportunity zones.
In addition, associates Caroline Bailey and Erin Walsh participated in group discussions over lunch, with a focus on real estate capital markets trends.
