Lawyers on the Front Lines, Part 2: Hotline Bling!

The airport shifts continued for two weeks. All known travelers, entitled to come through the United States through Houston, came through – often subjected to hours of processing and questioning, but through nonetheless. The on-the-ground lawyer advocacy at the airport was incredibly effective, with lawyers coordinating with Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and family members of the travelers, trying to ensure proper treatment.

Texas Appleseed Pro Bono Week Spotlight: Homeless Youth Project

The Texas Education Agency found that approximately 113,000 students experienced homelessness sometime during the 2014-2015 school year. Moreover, that 113,000 number does not include children who are enrolled in school but are hiding the fact that they are homeless, or children who should be enrolled but aren't, or youth 18-24 who are learning how to survive as adults with little to no support.
