August 23, 2011 — V&E Appellate partner Marie Yeates was selected by Texas Lawyer magazine as one of 20 top Texas women lawyers and appellate attorneys profiled in their special section,“Winning Women.” Marie, a leader in appellate law, has presented 98 oral arguments in federal and state appellate courts across the country. She has been lead, or co-counsel in nearly 200 other appellate cases. Marie also serves as the managing partner of V&E's Houston office and was one of the founders of Vinson & Elkins Women's Initiative in 2001.

To select their "Winning Women" picks, Texas Lawyer asked readers to nominate lawyers “who have achieved significant recent victories as well as displayed a track record of wins in which they prevailed in high-stakes cases; won large monetary awards; successfully defended against actions seeking substantial damages; handled first-of-their-kind or bet-the-company cases; or claimed victory in cases that had a national or statewide impact.”
