Tax Litigation
V&E's Federal Tax Controversy and Litigation practice group has significant experience in the resolution of contested tax matters at all stages: examination, administrative appeals, trial, and appellate review. Lawyers from other departments within V&E with experience in the litigation of tax cases are also available to assist in the preparation, trial, and appeal of larger tax cases. While V&E lawyers have formidable tax litigation experience, our goal in representing clients in contested tax matters is to resolve the matter as early in the process as possible in a manner that achieves the economic objectives of our client and does not needlessly impair their ongoing relationship with the IRS. When we have been engaged early in the process, we have had significant success in resolving matters without trial. We are also very experienced in the mediation of tax controversies.
V&E's Tax Litigation lawyers have experience representing clients in various industries including energy/oil and gas, healthcare, medical devices, technology, insurance, entertainment, and retail, as well as government entities and non-profits. Issues span the Internal Revenue Code, including international, tax treaty, financial products, accounting method, partnership, and valuation issues, as well as tax credits.
