Biography
Sarah is an English Solicitor and a member of the International Dispute Resolution practice group. Sarah’s practice is primarily focused on international dispute resolution in a variety of forums (including international arbitration, English High Court litigation, and mediation). In addition, she advises on the proper drafting of dispute resolution/forum selection clauses.

Sarah is familiar with all the major institutional rules and seats, and has particular experience under the ICC, LCIA, and HKIAC Rules. In addition, she has assisted with several matters in the High Court, including both the defending of interim injunctions, the bringing of applications for the stay of proceedings pending arbitration, and the final hearing of matters. Sarah’s cases typically arise out of the energy and technology sectors, or have an international law aspect.

  • Assisting in the representation of the claimants in two UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings (including defending challenge proceedings and subsequent disputed enforcement proceedings in the Indian courts) concerning profit sharing and taxation matters under a Production Sharing Contract against the Government of India Sharing Contract (Kuala Lumpur seat)
  • Assisting in the representation of the claimant consortium in an UNCITRAL arbitration proceeding under a production sharing contract against the Government of India. The dispute focuses on the recovery of certain construction and development costs (Kuala Lumpur seat)
  • Assisting in the representation of a U.S. claimant in LCIA arbitration proceedings concerning the right to access proprietary technology for the development of a waste-coal to clean liquid fuels project (London seat)
Litigation
  • Assisting in the representation of defending two Brunei corporations in a claim before the English High Court relating to interests in hydrocarbon fields; this matter included a successful application (on behalf of our clients) under Section 9 of the Arbitration Act
  • Assisting in the representation of defending a major Indian conglomeration in relation to proceedings for the seizure of an oil rig
Other Matters
  • Assisting in a Serious Fraud Office investigation arising out of UN's Oil For Food Programme
