Biography
Sandy’s principal areas of practice are real estate law and finance law. His experience includes real estate aspects of energy, project development and project finance transactions; sale-leasebacks and other leveraged lease transactions; synthetic lease transactions; project finance; private placements; equity relationships, mezzanine loans, and other hybrid debt-equity transactions; workouts, restructurings, and foreclosures; acquisitions and dispositions; leasing; and finance. He also provides advice on usury and choice-of-law issues in commercial financing transactions.

- Represented an energy company in its lease of approximately 845,000 square feet of an office building under development in downtown Houston, Texas
- Represented two of the largest private equity funds as lead real estate counsel in their $45 billion acquisition of a large U.S. integrated utility company that owns 18 power plants and five lignite mines, including the real estate aspects of the acquisition financing
- Represented private equity firms as real estate counsel, and as Texas finance counsel, in $2.5 billion acquisition financing of company that owns 11 power plants in Texas
