Biography
Raina is a solicitor in the firm's London office, having previously been seconded for a two year period to the firm's Tokyo office. Prior to joining Vinson & Elkins, Raina trained and worked at two leading UK law firms and a U.S. energy practice. She has also previously spent periods on secondment in Paris, as well as with a provider of private equity/risk capital for businesses in emerging markets and also with a power company which is focused on the emerging markets of Africa, the Americas, and Asia.
Raina provides advice internationally on a wide range of energy sector matters, including mergers and acquisitions, oil, gas, power, infrastructure, and renewables projects. Raina is a member of the firm's Energy Transactions/Projects and M&A/Private Equity practices.

- Assisted in the representation of one of the largest Chinese state-owned oil and gas companies in connection with its multi-billion dollar acquisition of a Canadian company publicly traded on the Toronto and London Stock Exchanges with assets in West Africa and the Middle East
- Assisted in the representation of an oil and gas company focused on the exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbons in North Africa and the Middle East on the disposal of certain assets in Algeria
- Assisted in the representation of an oil and gas exploration and production company focused on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and West Africa in relation to royalty arrangements and risk sharing, participation, financing and operating agreements with the Angolan national concessionaire and joint venturers

- Assisted to advise a bidder in relation to the acquisition of various windfarms in Poland

- Assisted to advise an Abu Dhabi power company in relation to the proposed development, construction, ownership, and operation of a power plant in Algeria and an aluminum smelting and power project in the United Arab Emirates
- Assisted in the representation of an operating power company on the reorganization of its group structure and power project portfolio, involving substantial assets in numerous jurisdictions

Assisted to advise a bidder in relation to an Omani desalination project Assisted to advise the project company during bid stages in relation to the Barka and Ras Laffan Power and Water Projects, Oman PPP/PFI

- Assisted in the representation of a government investor in emerging markets on the disposal of its entire shareholding in a foreign investment fund
