Biography
Jennifer focuses her litigation practice on state and federal securities litigation, officer and director liability, internal investigations, and class actions. She has successfully defended public companies, investment banks, and executives in suits filed by shareholders. Her experience includes derivative suits, shareholder class actions, disputes between master limited partnerships and their limited partners, internal investigations, and individual shareholder claims in state and federal court and arbitration. Jennifer also has significant experience in defending shareholder and consumer class actions, both within Texas and across the country. Jennifer has been named as a “Texas Rising Star” in business litigation in Texas Monthly in each of the last seven years. Jennifer currently serves as Hiring Partner for the Austin office.

- Represented individual executive of public company in internal investigation by the audit committee and related litigation
- Represented private company to pursue fraud and contract claims against seller of acquired company
- Represented former officer and director against allegations of securities fraud and options backdating in the Northern District of Texas
Officer, Director and Investor Litigation Case Citations | View All
- Representing the purchaser in several shareholder class actions challenging the acquisition of a $4.4 billion exploration and production company; successfully defeated the plaintiffs’ motion for a temporary injunction
- Represented a master limited partnership, its general partner, and its directors in lawsuits filed in Delaware Chancery Court by limited partners alleging breach of the partnership agreement and common law claims
- Represented a master limited partnership, its general partner, and its directors in a lawsuit filed in Texas state court by a limited partner alleging breach of the partnership agreement, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing, and statutory and common law claims of fraud
Class Actions
- Representing an insurance company in multiple class action lawsuits; successfully removed class action to federal court under the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005 on an issue of first impression before the Seventh Circuit
- Represented a national video provider in several consumer class actions across the country; successfully removed many of these actions to federal court under the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005
Commercial Litigation
- Frequently represents parties in commercial disputes, including claims for breach of contract, tortious interference, requests for declaratory and injunctive relief, and alleged violations of the deceptive trade practices acts
