Biography
Jay's practice involves the representation of clients in international mergers and acquisitions, energy matters, and project development and finance transactions. During the last 30 years, he has worked on transactions in more than 50 countries throughout the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Western Africa, with a particular focus on the energy industry. Jay worked in Europe for five years, in the London office from 1990-1992 and in the Moscow office from 1992-1995. Jay is a member of V&E's Management Committee and serves as Head of the Corporate Department, International Coordinator of the firm's Asia practice, and Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office.

  • Represented an Australian energy company in connection with the >$4.0 billion sales of interests in coal seam gas reserves, a gas pipeline, and a greenfield LNG plant to Asian and European buyers
  • Represented a large international energy company in its >$2.5 billion divestiture of energy assets located in five West African countries
Project Development and Finance Transactions

  • Represented an Australian energy company over a period of three years in connection with its development of a $16 billion greenfield LNG project in Eastern Australia, which achieved FID in January 2011
