Biography
Hiba's practice focuses on all aspects of conventional and Shari'a-compliant, international business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, funds and private equity. She recently spent nine months on secondment at an international financial services provider where she served as sole legal counsel for six geographic markets. Hiba was responsible for all internal legal matters including drafting cooperation and distribution agreements relating to life Takaful products; negotiating agreements with distributors and Takaful operators; reviewing and amending general terms and conditions and ancillary documentations relating to Takaful policies and products; advising on the structuring of Takaful products; ensuring regulatory compliance of the Takaful products; leading legal due diligence on the Takaful services and investment management agreements entered into by the company; and liaising and coordinating with external counsel.

Hiba holds a PhD in Islamic Insurance and has advised clients on numerous Islamic insurance and re-insurance matters. Islamic Finance News named Hiba as a leading lawyer in five categories including Takaful and Re-Takaful in 2011. Prior to joining V&E, Hiba was an associate in the Dubai office of a major international law firm. She has also practiced in London.
