Biography
Elizabeth is an associate attorney in the Dallas office of Vinson & Elkins. She assists in prosecuting and defending corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of complex business litigation in state and federal courts including antitrust matters, securities litigation and enforcement, officer and director liability, corporate governance, class actions, commercial disputes, real estate, and oil and gas matters. She has also represented clients in cases involving RICO claims, unfair competition claims, price discrimination claims, contract disputes, commercial fraud, civil conspiracy, tortious interference, Section 10 b-5, Section 11, Section 12, Sherman Act, and Lanham Act claims. Elizabeth has participated in civil trials in state and federal courts, including numerous trials as a municipal prosecutor for the City of Grand Prairie District Attorney’s Office through a partnership program with Vinson & Elkins. 

Elizabeth also provides pro bono representation to indigent clients in the areas of immigration and family law. She successfully represented a client to obtain asylum from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Asylum office in Houston, Texas.

Elizabeth has played an active leadership role at Vinson & Elkins since joining the firm. She has served on the recruiting committee, and currently serves on the firm’s Associate Advisory Committee and Diversity Advisory Committee.

  • Represents buyers, sellers, and directors and officers in litigation arising out of merger transactions
  • Private equity acquisition of TXU Corp., assisted in representation of large utility’s regulated power distribution entity in administrative proceedings seeking review of proposed merger to determine whether proposed transaction was consistent with public interest
  • Defended several oil and gas retailer master limited partnerships in challenges by unitholders to enjoin proposed restructuring transactions – transactions successfully closed
Securities Litigation & Enforcement

  • Assisted in representation of manufacturer of wheeled-shoes in securities class action, derivative action, and individual shareholder lawsuit arising from the drop in stock price after initial public offering; cases settled satisfactorily to client
  • Represented former chief executive officer of public company in defending claims for improper stock option backdating
  • Represented officers and directors of public companies in various enforcement proceedings before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

  • Member of team representing municipality in validation of $1.35 million bond package to finance public infrastructure for a projected $800 million to $1 billion in private development
  • Assisted in representation of the nation’s leading health care group purchasing organization in multiple antitrust actions challenging bundled or package discount arrangements, alleging that company conspired with suppliers to monopolize the relevant market by engaging in unlawful exclusive dealing contracting practices, and seeking hundreds of millions in damages
  • Member of a team representing large insurance provider for one of the nation’s largest insurers in a series of putative class actions alleging underpayments of claims for structural losses under homeowners’ policies
