Biography
Doug's practice focuses on representing management in labor and employment law, civil rights law, ERISA litigation, and related issues. His clients include companies in energy production and refining, energy services, health care, insurance, manufacturing, transportation and trucking, and the arts. He has represented clients in matters involving issues of employment discrimination, pension benefits, and labor relations (including collective bargaining and unfair labor practices) before state and federal courts, and numerous federal and state agencies including the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Labor Relations Board, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, and Texas Commission on Human Rights. Doug is certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

  • Represented clients in connection with numerous class-action employment discrimination lawsuits involving issues of disparate treatment and disparate impact (including successful litigation of class certification, trials on the merits and negotiation of settlements)
  • Represented a major life insurance company located in New York in connection with employment cases filed by former senior managers in Texas, Alaska, California, Florida, New York, North Carolina and South Carolina
  • Represented a major oilfield services provider in obtaining reversal of an adverse determination in a Commissioner's charge matter and dismissal of findings of discrimination in hiring and assignment for an affected class of more than 20,000 applicants and employees
