Biography
Dan has been practicing bankruptcy law in Dallas since 1972 and has maintained a New York office since 1999. Dan’s practice spans all aspects of debtor/creditor relationships. Major creditor representations have included agent bank, bank group, and creditor committee work. Borrower representations have included major out-of-court restructurings of public and private corporations and significant Chapter 11 debtor cases and trustee representation over the last 15 years. Dan has represented sellers, buyers, and bidders in structuring and consummating a multitude of 363 sales transactions. Additionally, Dan has served as Bankruptcy Trustee in hundreds of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases under the Bankruptcy Act and Code.

Dan founded Vinson & Elkins’ Restructuring and Reorganization practice when he joined the firm in 1999, with five other partners and a number of associates, and has served as the Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group Leader since that time. The six senior members of the group have practiced restructuring and reorganization law together for over 25 years. The section now numbers 28 full time bankruptcy lawyers, as well as a host of insolvency-experienced attorneys in finance, banking, real estate, and litigation.
