Biography
Claire is a projects and energy lawyer in Vinson & Elkins’ London office. She joined the firm in 2004, having previously worked at a leading London law firm and a UK practice specialising in offshore oil and gas projects.
Claire also spent a year in the Frankfurt office of a UK “Magic Circle” law firm working on various corporate projects and spent time in a large German law firm in Berlin working on non-contentious construction matters.

- Advising a major global sponsor in the oil, gas, and petrochemicals sector on its development of an offshore gas field and integrated pipeline project
- Representing an energy company in connection with the US$414 million acquisition of an exploration and production company, which included interests in eight oil and gas fields in the central North Sea section of the UK Continental Shelf
- Managing the due diligence process in respect of a major European energy company’s proposed acquisition of a company owning oil and gas assets in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea

- Representing a wind farm developer in relation to licensing and regulatory elements as well as contractual arrangements for its UK wind farm projects
- Representing a private equity group on its investment in the development of several biogas projects in Germany
- Representing a wind farm developer on its power purchase arrangements, including its arrangements for the sale of associated ROCs, LECs, and REGOs
Power
- Representing a large U.S. energy company on the disposal of its shareholding in a company owning a power station in the UK
- Representing a UK CHP generating company in respect of a potential judicial review of Ofgem/DTI and in the preparation of modifications to the Balancing and Settlement Code
- Representation of Mubadala Development Company in connection with the US$800 million development of the Barka 2IWPP in Oman and related acquisition of the operational Al-Rusail Power Company in Abu Dhabi. This deal was named by Project Finance Magazine as their 2007 Global Deal of the Year

- Advising a bidder in relation to an Omani desalination project

- Representation of Mubadala Development Company in connection with the development of the US$5.5 billion Taweelah smelter project in Abu Dhabi
