Biography
Ahmed has advised clients on complex cross-border, private and public M&A, private equity, and joint venture transactions in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. His M&A experience includes previously working at Morgan Stanley’s Global Energy Group in New York where he provided investment banking advice on mergers and acquisitions for major oil companies. In addition, he has extensive experience in project development and financing, with a focus on energy and Middle East and Caspian projects. Prior to joining V&E, Ahmed was resident in the London office of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He has extensive knowledge of the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia where he lived for more than 16 years.

Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity View All
- Advised a leading Saudi Arabian industrial engineering firm in connection with a regional joint venture with an international engineering firm
- Advised a major U.S. telecom company on restructuring a joint-venture with a leading Gulf-based telecom company
- Advised a major international telecom company on a bid for wireless spectrum in Qatar and related joint venture arrangements
Project Development and Finance View All
- Advising King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy on establishing a legal and regulatory framework for a renewable and civil atomic energy sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Advised the lenders on $4.1 billion refinancing of the Dolphin integrated natural gas project in Qatar and the UAE; previously advised Occidental in connection with original bank and Islamic bridge financing (Infrastructure Journal 2009 Oil & Gas Deal of the Year; Project Finance International 2009 Middle East Oil & Gas Deal of the Year)
- Advised the project company and its sponsors on $2.8 billion financing for the natural gas pipeline and liquefaction project in Yemen; the largest financing and foreign direct investment in history of Yemen (Infrastructure Journal 2008 Global Deal of the Year; Project Finance International 2008 Middle East Oil & Gas Deal of the Year)
Structured Finance and Securities
- Advised a leading UK bank on a structured film financing and joint venture in the U.S.
- Advised various banks on multiple structured financing transactions
- Advised several international banks on multiple issuances of equity-linked notes
