Energy – Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

Vinson & Elkins’ LNG experience is a natural outgrowth of our long relationship with the natural gas industry and covers all facets of the LNG business. Our lawyers have extensive institutional knowledge of LNG structuring practices drawn from experience on LNG projects around the world.

In one way or another, V&E has been involved with virtually every LNG export and import project in the United States, and several in Canada. Our regulatory team has developed strong relations with all U.S. Federal agencies involved in LNG regulation and oversight. Proactive and commercially minded, our lawyers have a detailed understanding of what is “market” with regard to the development and financing of LNG facilities, including terms and conditions of tolling services, LNG sales agreements, feedstock gas sales, and gas transportation services.

V&E most frequently advises the following parties on LNG matters:

  • Developers
  • LNG suppliers and purchasers
  • Feed gas suppliers and purchasers
  • Terminal service customers
  • Takeaway and supply pipelines
  • Equity investors
