V&E partners, Matt Jacobs and Jessica Mussallem are participating in panel discussions at the 9th West Coast FCPA Enforcement & Compliance Conference in San Francisco.
Along with other panelists, Jessica will touch on how the new DOJ Pilot Program and its impact in regards to enforcement. The session, "Should You or Should You Not? – A Practical Debate on the Value of Voluntary Self-Disclosure and Cooperation under the DOJ’s New Pilot Program," will also offer a practical first review of the first DOJ-issued declinations under the FCPA Pilot Program (Akamai, Nortek) and SEC-ruled non-prosecution agreements (NPAs).
Matt is joining a panel discussion entitled, "Do’s & Don’ts of FCPA Books and Records: How Tightening SEC Enforcement Should Prompt You to Take a Fresh Look at Your Internal Controls." This session will provide attendees an overview of the FCPA's accounting provisions and practical lessons from recent SEC enforcement actions in the technology (Qualcomm) and life sciences (Novartis, Nordion) industries.
Matt is a former federal prosecutor in the Northern District of California with more than 20 years of experience, he is well recognized for his experience in internal investigations, government investigations, and white collar matters of all kinds, as well as complex commercial litigation. Mr. Jacobs frequently advises Boards of Directors, Audit Committees, and General Counsels on critical issues. He is Co-Chair of the firm's Government Investigations & White Collar Criminal Defense practice, and is the Managing Partner of the San Francisco office of V&E.
Jessica's principal areas of practice include complex commercial litigation, government investigations and white collar criminal defense including the representation of corporations, Audit Committees, and individuals in criminal and internal investigations involving the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other government agencies.
